This site is intended for paramedics and the medical public. It has been produced to inform people on common pathologies which require surgical treatment when all other therapeutic methods have failed to generate clinical improvement.

Above all, the aim of this information is to answer as far as possible any practical or theoretical issue the patient has.

This information can be several order, concerning :

the nature of the pathologies will give explanations on both their origin & mechanics ;
the method of establishing of the diagnosis ;
the principles of the surgical operation & certain risks which can be met and the benefits which can be obtained ;
the methods of care which follow surgery.

This information can contribute to help a patient in his decision but only with a clinical examination and a consultation will it be possible to precisely draw up an adapted therapeutic method.

To guide a patient in his research, it should be noted that today the specialities vary according to the different functional organs. This site relates to the orthopedic surgery which treats pathologies of the locomotor apparatus, which are the upper limb and the lower limb.

In this speciality, pathologies are divided into a topographic way according to the articulation. Thus the patient will be able to orient themselves into two sectors : the upper limb and the lower limb and then in each sector according to the articulation which relates to it.

A lexicon of certain terms will supplement this site since certain pathologies relate to the anatomical zones or when the term is not from the anatomical site.

Caution : certain pages show sights from the operation.
