cartilage of the articulation of the hip made
up of a side by the higher end of the femur (head
of the femur) and other side by the articular
slope of the pelvis or cotyle.

cartilage of the articulation of the knee made
up on a side by the lower end of the femur and
other side by the higher end of the tibia; ahead,
the kneecap is articulated; there are thus on
the whole 3 compartments in the knee; osteoarthritis
can touch one, two or the three compartments.
